"It was in the beginning of the reign of Mavegil of Arthedain that evil came to Arnor. For at that time the realm of Angmar arose in the North beyond the Ettenmoors. Its lands lay on both sides of the mountains, and there were gathered many evil men, and Orcs, and other fell creatures" -The Lord of the Rings Appendix A (III)
"'The men of Carn Dûm came on us at night, and we were worsted. Ah! the spear in my heart!' He clutched at his breast. 'No! No!' he said, opening his eyes. 'What am I saying?'" -Frodo, Fog on the Barrow-Downs
The Realm of Angmar is an evil faction on the Rise of Morgoth server. We are still a relatively small and new faction when compared with others on the server. The Realm of Angmar is made up of orcs, uruks, trolls, and evil men. At the moment, we are still rebuilding after the reset.
There are several starter titles available for those wishing to join the Angmar faction located at spawn (when built). These include titles such as; Troll, Angmar orc, Wraith, and Rhudaur Hillman.
As we are still a small faction we are in need of active recruits!
Lore
After Sauron reappeared in T.A 1050, he sent the chief of the ringwraiths, Angmar to land north of the Ettenmoors and muster up a fighting force. The Witch-King quickly gathered to him all evil creatures; Orcs of Gundabad, Trolls of the Mountains, and the corrupt Hillmen of Rhudaur. Soon afterwards, the realms of Rhudaur and Cardolan fell and the tower of Weathertop was destroyed. The remnant of the people of Arnor retreated to the stronghold of Fornost and the Barrow-downs. However, only 200 years later, a great plague hit and the realm of Cardolan perished. Only the realm of Arthedain remained. In the winter of T.A 1974, Angmar sent a large army west to capture Fornost. The city was low on resources and the battle was lost for Arnor. Angmar had conquered the Northern Kingdom of the Dúnedain and now ruled Eriador. But later that year, a great fleet was sent by Gondor. Added to the elves of Lindon and the defenders that escaped Fornost, a large army marched east to retake the city. Against the cavalry of Rhovanion, the Witch-King was powerless, the forces of Angmar were ambushed and lost the battle, and the Witch-King withdrew to Mordor. However, Angmar had still accomplished his objective, the realm of Arnor was no more.

These ranks can only be achieved with specific criteria and are open to a limited number of people only. Applicants for exclusive ranks can only be picked by the Witch-king.
Witch-king
The Witch-king is the ruler of Angmar and makes all important decisions regarding the realm. There can only be a single Witch-king at any one time. If the Witch-king is inactive for a long period of time, the closest faction heir will inherit the faction.
Incumbent: TheWitchKing (DemonEye)
Faction Heir
Faction heirs will inherit the faction if the Witch-king is inactive for a long period of time. Faction heirs can only be picked by the Witch-king.
Incumbent: Azog2015 (Hwaldar the Bold), FutureFox231 (Foxmog)
Nazgûl
The rank of Nazgûl is open to any player with more than 2000 Angmar alignment, note that there can be a maximum of nine of these (including the Witch-king).
Incumbent: TheWitchKing (DemonEye), Khamul (Dragon)
Territory and Industry
Industry
The faction of Angmar makes many different kinds of goods that fuel our economy, some of the most important are listed below:
- Orc steel
- Uruk steel
- Morgul Steel
- Gulduril
- Iron ore
- Coal
- Various weapons and armour
- Morgul-shrooms
- Silver
Territory
The Realm of Angmar claims the Coldfells, Ettenmoors, Angmar, and Angmar mountains biomes, it is possible that the realm may eventually expand into Eriador. Our sub-faction of Rhuduar also claims most of the Lone-Lands biome. The ultimate goal for Angmar is to conquer the Eriador biome, the Hills of Everdim, and the cities of Fornost and Annúminas. As the Arnor faction is inactive, this may be very easy to accomplish.
Diplomacy
See here for faction diplomacy.
Because the Realm of Angmar is still small, Angmar currently has no trade relationships. This will hopefully change in the near future when more players join the faction. Because the Witch-King is directly answerable to Sauron, Angmar is obliged to provide aid to Mordor, in wars and other conflicts. We have joined the Order of Shadows and may ally with Angband. Angmar has a special diplomatic relationship with Gundabad because we are the only two evil factions in the north.

Nationality
Equipment
The national equipment set is the Angmar Orc equipment set. However because this is quite weak, other evil equipment sets are also permitted to be used.
Banner
The national banners of the realm are the Angmar, Rhudaur Hillmen, Gundabad, and Minas Morgul banners.
Hired Units
Any hired units are permitted as long as the faction you've hired them from is allied with Angmar. The main hired units in Angmar are Olog-hai, Angmar orcs, Rhudaur Hillmen, and Black Uruks. Because there is no Sauron at the moment and the Witch-king is lieutenant of Mordor, we can hire Mordor units in wars.
National Colours
The main national colours of Angmar are black, blood-red, brown, and sickly-green. All dark and evil colours are also national colours however.
Build Style
There are three building styles used by the Angmar faction; the Angmar style, the Rhudaur Hillman style, and the Ruins style:

The Angmar style is dark and scary, although it is evil, the build isn't or decaying or ruined. The build feels very large and eery, it almost 'looms' over the head of the viewer. Most buildings of the realm in the Angmar and Angmar mountains biomes use this style. Examples of this style of building in Peter Jackson's films would include Minas Morgul , Mt. Gundabad, and Barad-Dûr. This type of build style uses Angmar, Mordor, Stone, and Gulduril bricks. The Angmar style can be difficult to translate into minecraft. The city of Carn Dûm (when rebuilt) will use this build style.

The Rhudaur hillman style is much less complex and refined, it has an almost 'barbarian' or viking look. The build feels rugged and tough, if done right, this build style can feel really authentic. Builds using this style use spruce wood, cobblestone, and stone bricks. Most of the outposts of the realm use this style, and Cameth Brin is currently being built using this style. An example of this style in history are Viking villages. This building style is not too difficult to implement in minecraft, a guide on how to build in a similar style can be found here.

The Ruins style is exactly what it sounds like; a ruined build. The build is in general disrepair; blocks are missing, cobwebs can be found inside, and some blocks use their cracked or mossy variants. A good example of this style in the films is Weathertop. Most of the Angmar builds in Eriador use this style. This style can be quite difficult to translate into minecraft, an excellent tutorial on how to build ruins can be found here.
Armour Sets
The national armour sets of the Realm are the Angmar orc and Gundabad Uruk armour sets, but any evil armour set is permitted.
Crafting Table
The Realm of Angmar mainly uses the Angmar, Gundabad, and Mordor crafting tables, however all evil crafting tables are permitted to be used (including Dunland).
Rules of Angmar
- All server rules must be abided by
- Listen to your superiors
- You are obliged to provide aid in wars
- Only hire troops from factions that are allied with Angmar
- Keep to the lore! That means no walking around in full Mithril armour
- Do not break neutrality or trade pacts
- Only enchant weapons and armour when necessary, the purple sheen effect looks outputting
- Be active!!! I cannot stress this enough, there is nothing more valuable than an active player
- Failing to follow these rules will result in banishment from the realm!
Economic state of Angmar
Unlike most other evil factions, Angmar is not wealthy, most of our money comes from mining activities in the Angmar and Misty Mountains. We also get some money from internal trade, particularly from weaponry. However, while we are not wealthy we have a large, powerful army and many tricks up our sleeve. While trade agreements are currently being discussed, the Witch-king has decided to make Angmar as self-sufficient as possible. One of the main challenges of the realm is an efficient farming system. Angmar has a lot of farming potential; wheat, potatoes, corn, flax, and Morgul-shrooms could all be grown, but it is difficult. The terrain of the Angmar mountains can be very hard to grow crops on, and the surrounding biomes can be just as difficult. The economic state is especially bad because of the reset.
Goals of Angmar
The goals of Angmar are simple:
- To become the most industrialised evil faction on the server
- To become the largest and most active faction on the server
- To gain control of the north of Middle Earth
- To have the largest and most powerful army on the server
- To be the faction with the best and most impressive builds
- To be respected by our allies and feared by our enemies
- To have an active and devoted player base
- To have fun and enjoy the best minecraft mod ever created!
Government of Angmar
Angmar uses a totalitarian form of government, the current ruler of the realm is TheWitchKing (DemonEye). Totalitarianism is when the state controls all aspects of public and private life, this was most likely the system that the Angmar kingdom used in Tolkien's writings. All important decisions are made by the Witch-king.
The Dark Council of Angmar
The Dark Council of Angmar is a proposed idea for a council of advisers within the faction of Angmar. The council would advise the Witch-king, but he would have the power to veto their decision if he wanted. The council would be held at Carn Dûm every week. Important decisions such as whether or not to go to war would be debated in the council. The council may be established if more players join the faction and Carn Dûm has been rebuilt.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions:
How do I join Angmar?
- To join the Angmar faction you need +100 Angmar alignment. This can be acquired by killing High-Elves, Rangers of the North, or doing quests for faction NPCs. Once you have the alignment, message TheWitchKing by doing /mail DemonEye in game. Tell us why you want to be in the faction and what kind of skills you have (PVP, building, mining etc.). After you have done this, go to the Angmar faction building at spawn and choose a title you like. You are now in the Angmar faction!
What kind of players are you looking for?
- The faction of Angmar values active players who are willing to help out. Players who want power and influence are also highly sought-after. At the moment builders are in very high demand as well.
I've joined the faction and want to help out. What can I do?
- Give advice to new players and help them in their adventures. Teach them the rules and philosophies of Angmar.
- Help with builds. This is probably the most useful thing an Angmar player can do at the moment, we have many unfinished builds and many planned builds that you could help with. Because most of the players in the faction aren't very good at building helping with builds would be greatly appreciated.
- Gather resources; Angmar has never been a particularly rich faction and gathering resources would greatly help with wars and building. Trade with other faction players to get rare and important materials, use these materials to make strong gear.
